Lake Plastira, Meteora

1st Day
Morning departure from Athens. Crossing the Thessalian plain, we reach the Lake Plastira.
Nowadays the lake Plastira is a source of life for the entire Karditsa and beyond. The area is included in the European Natura 2000 map and is protected by European legislation.
Visit to Monastery Koronas, where you will be guided to one of the lighthouses of Orthodoxy. The Monastery of Koronas played an important role during the years of Ottoman rule. Here is kept the holy skull of St. Seraphim.
Then we will visit the Monastery of Panagia Pelekiti, a unique monument of the 16th century and the Pezoulas Beach where you will have free time on the lake. Check in at hotel.
2nd Day
Early morning departure for the Holy Monastery of St. Stephen in Meteora. The church is dedicated to St. Haralambos, the skull of which is kept there as the most sacred and miraculous relic
Then we will visit the Monastery of Varlaam which has a rich collection of about 300 manuscripts.
Afterwards we will move to the Monastery of Transfiguration of Christ which prevailed called "Great Meteor", not only because of the extent of 50 acres and the size of the buildings, but also because of the spirit of the radiation and the primacy it enjoyed in the mid 16th century. The name is due to Saint Athanasios the Meteorite.
Depart for Athens. If time permits, we will visit the Monastery of Zarkou St. John the Theologian. Arrival late afternoon.
